NIC Talks 2015 | Brenda Bacon | Brandywine Senior Living
In her rousing NIC Talk at the 2015 National Investment Center for Seniors Housing & Care (NIC) Fall Conference, enigmatic speaker and Brandywine Senior Living President and CEO Brenda Bacon shares her vision for how the baby boomer generation wants to live. She cites a commonly shared statistic in the seniors housing world regarding the aging of America: Every single day for the next 15 years 10,000 people will turn 65-years-old. And today this generation uses up half of the federal budget and in a few decades they will use up two-thirds. Bacon continues her Talk, saying the boomers want more choice as they age, and their seniors housing, “I want to choose, not be chosen for.” She ends her Talk by citing a few examples from the hotel and service industry as the type of service demands and care quality the boomers will mandate as they age–no kitchen open/close times and hovering nurses will suffice.
